Huawei could be gearing up to jump into the Top TV segment with an 8K 5G-enabled Version launching when this Season.
The apparatus would mark Huawei’s entrance into this consumer electronics segment but would strengthen its place in the 5G media space and may serve to make a new group of TVs that are directly connected to high-speed cellular data networks. Such a device would also have the ability to be a connected hub for a variety of services such as media sharing, home automation, and safety.
As per a report from the Nikkei Asian Review, the Chinese telecommunications giant is looking to be a world leader in the consumer device market, expanding its portfolio that currently includes laptops, smartwatches, and of course smartphones. Huawei has already demonstrated 5G products for the new flagship Huawei Mate X foldable smartphone, which now controls an eye-watering EUR 2,299(approximately Rs. 1,80,400 plus taxation when it starts in India). The purported 8K 5G-enabled TV would be a similarly superior product.
A ecosystem for 8K content will need to be developed, and like 4K TVs several years ago, delivering such content will be awkward at first. Integrated 5G can be a major benefit to Huawei in preventing this situation.
Although there isn’t any confirmation or projected release date yet, the Nikkei Asian Review believes the Huawei 8K 5G TV could launch by the end of 2019. It is unlikely to be published widely around the world for quite a while, due to its cost and the availability of 5G support. Additional specifications, even as basic as display size, have never been reported yet.
